Meyer Burger has amended its net sales and EBIT-targets upwards for 2007 appreciably

Meyer Burger profited from very positive developments in the solar industry market. Order backlog has increased threefold in the first 6 months of 2007 exceeding CHF 450 million in comparison with 31st December 2006. By today’s standards it is expected, that the net sales for 2007 will have increased by more than CHF 100 million. The medium term anticipated EBIT margin of 12 – 14 % will be reached for this year already. The positive development is amongst other things attributed to reactions to the market in worldwide leading technologies and Meyer Burger’s integrated system solutions for the production of high quality wafers for the solar industry.

Meyer Burger Technology AG (SWX Swiss Exchange: MBTN) considerably increased their own objectives for the 2007 fiscal year. This thanks to positive developments in the solar industry market and several large orders, which led to excellent orders in hand. With the net sales for 2007 the company expects an increase of over CHF 100 million in comparison with the previous year. The previous target reached growth in excess of 30%. In the course of the 2007 fiscal year, the medium term anticipated EBIT-margin of 12 – 14 % will be reached already.

The reasons for the adjustment in net sales- and EBIT-objectives for the 2007 fiscal year are diverse. Meyer Burger enjoys a leading position worldwide as an independent enterprise for high-tech equipment for the separation of hard and brittle materials such as silicon, sapphire and other valuable crystals . And for another, customer confidence, excellent orders in hand, the successful implementation of the expansion in production capacity, the reduction of turn around times per machine as well as disproportionally low changes in the workforce.

The successful introduction of the new ERP-Systems SAP for total production, the material control as well as adaptations initiated in the Meyer Burger AG organisation, which were realised faster than anticipated could be further key factors, that have led to the adaptation of the objectives for 2007. These also directly led to a clear improvement in efficiency in all business processes.

Due to the relocation of production into the new production facilities production output and volume in January and early February 2007 were affected and were still not yet at the level in the following month. The new objectives specified refer to the entire 2007 fiscal year and not to the first half of 2007. The detailed results for the first half of 2007 will be published on 11th September 2007.
